Jen Yocum is a licensed acupuncturist in Maryland, and is also a behavioral neuroscientist whose background is in the effects of natural and complementary medicines (such as gingko biloba, red wine components, antioxidants, and omega-3 fatty acids) on learning and memory in models of stroke and Alzheimer's disease.
In addition, Jen is a certified feng shui consultant, and completed training in 2003 under feng shui expert Hope Karan Gerecht, author of Healing Design: Practical Feng Shui for Healthy and Gracious Living, and pupil of Grand Master Lin Yun, the first person to bring feng shui to the Western world. Jennifer has been trained under the Black Hat Tantric Buddist (BTB) style of feng shui, as well as in flying star feng shui. It was during her feng shui training that Jen began to cook vegan meals for her teacher as a barter, and realized her passion for cooking.
Jen has always loved studying nutrition, and working in laboratories that studied natural foods and herbs to improve disease states helped to fuel this. She uses her scientific background and learning to integrate beneficial ingredients into her recipes and food recommendations, and recommend healthy options for all lifestyles. During her acupuncture schooling, she began reading about and studying Chinese Medicine approaches to nutrition, and everything synced into place. She knew she had to use all of her knowledge gained from science, ancient healing Chinese Medicine approaches, and her own creative experiments in the kitchen, and share these with as many people as possible.
Partnering together with Jen on The 21 Day Chinese Medicine Cleanse, you may improve your health on the levels of mind, body, and spirit. Designed as a cleanse that anyone can follow, from the couch potato on the standard American diet to the fitness-loving healthy eater, Jen is there every step of the way with wellness recommendations and encouragement.
Jen's other passions and trainings:
In 2006, she completed training to become a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 200 level (RYT 200), and teaches at various locations in Maryland. She also studies ra'yoKa (a fusion of yoga and martial arts) with Rainbeau Mars, and Core Strength Vinyasa Flow yoga by Sadie Nardini.
Jen also completed level 1 training to become a Reiki practitioner in 2008. Reiki is a form of healing where energy is passed through the hands to the patient, bringing balance and comfort, and healing on the mind, body, or spirit level.
Jen's business, Namaste Feng Shui, is devoted to improving the lives of all people, and coaching them to manifest their highest potential. Through physical movement/exercise, healing, and nutrition, she is committed to helping you achieve more ease in your body, mind, and spirit.
